The Spartan Sprint was an experience I will not soon forget. Finding a reason to lose is the blog article done by Steffen Cook of the Spartan Race interviewing me about my journey. The course was 4.5 miles and when you sign up your not really told how many miles or which obstacles the racers will face. This challenge was a personal journey as I tested my endurance. It had been a year since gastric bypass surgery and six months since my best friend Jo Ann Gonzales passed away from complications from colon cancer. Each obstacle race I enter I run in memory of JAG and the charities that each event takes part in. Its time to get ready for the next race and I look forward to the next Spartan race as I move toward the Spartan Race Trifecta.
After the passing of a dear friend to colon cancer. I realized you need to live your life and accomplish what you have only dreamed of. Reaching out of your comfort zone and overcoming your fears will push you harder. Obstacle racing and mud runs has become a new passion. Going from having type 2 diabetes to playing in the mud is all part of my journey. Here you will find stories, pictures, and other insights regarding our journey.
