As much as I enjoyed this event I am still trying to figure out why it's called Muddy Mayhem. Going through three mud obstacles does not equal mayhem to me. The course was 8K, but the obstacles were very limited for the distance. I had more issues trying to stay clear of the cow patties. This race has major potential and I hope next year they will put more thought into the obstacles.
I rate this mud run slightly dirty.
After the passing of a dear friend to colon cancer. I realized you need to live your life and accomplish what you have only dreamed of. Reaching out of your comfort zone and overcoming your fears will push you harder. Obstacle racing and mud runs has become a new passion. Going from having type 2 diabetes to playing in the mud is all part of my journey. Here you will find stories, pictures, and other insights regarding our journey.

First 8K left me sore for days
My first 8K obstacle race and I am super sore today. We started 22 minutes late, but we passed a lot of people. Our time was 1 hour 10 minutes. For me that is a good time, but I don't have anything to base it against. Ran most of the race except for a few seconds of walking and water breaks. This race has a lot of potential, but needs someone who knows about obstacles.
We are always looking for more people to join Team JAG. Please drop us a line if you want to get out there and start getting dirty.
| Not sure why I am doing this as I make a dash for the finish line. |

Less then a day left until 2 members of Team JAG get to run in Muddy Mayhem 3.
It has been a long week and some training has taking place during this busy week. This race will be the longest Team JAG has tried to tackle. This race is an 8K with obstacles and it is timed. I am looking forward to see where we rank and what our physical ability will be for this race.
Then it will be training time for the Spartan Sprint.

Wondering
Have you ever wondered if you are in the wrong profession? Was there some event in your life that took you down a different path? I was just thinking about those things as I remember a time before the internet and social media. I would most likely be watching tv or sleeping at this point. Here I am in my hotel room amazed over how many views some of my YouTube videos have gotten. I am excellent at figuring things out and finding answer using the internet. I suppose a really good researcher. I decided to look up a few tricks on driving more traffic to your blog or video channel. Wow a few tricks and one video has over 300 views in 2 days. I love technology and I am not sure where I would be without it, but I often wonder if my talents should have taken me on a different path. I suppose its never to late for a new hobby or career change. So here is to the future!!

Man drowns at West Virginia Tough Mudder
After Walking the Plank at Tough Mudder, A. Sengupta was submerged for a longer period of time and was revived by responding medics prior to his death.
Unfortunately regardless of what we take on in life there will always be risks. Any sport and even daily life comes with the possibility that things may go wrong. As we continue to race in these mud runs remember to always look out for each other. Regardless if you are on a team or you are racing as an individual. Lets motivate and look out for each other. May we embrace the family and friends of A. Sengupta and all those who were hurt during this past weekends event.
Story on Tough Mudder Drowning
Random thoughts of the day
Yesterday would have been my dear friend Jo Ann G.’s 39th birthday. Her passing from colon cancer made me realize there is so much more to experience in life. For so many years I have been very cautious in my life, but now I feel I am allowing myself to go just a little bit out of my comfort zone. Mud run obstacle courses have become an obsession for me. I have also tried to empower others to join me in my race through the mud. I am not one of those women who is scared to get dirty. I enjoy pushing myself and seeing how far I can go. There are so few women in this world willing to extend a helping hand towards others in hopes of empowering the many that may still be sitting at home in front of the TV eating a gallon of ice cream. I was one of those people that enjoyed sweets and everything that is not good for you in mass amounts. After having gastric bypass that is no more and it is not because I can’t eat those things. I am sure I can if I want to make myself sick, but I don’t because I was given a tool as a last resort to help me save my own life.
I challenge you today to make a difference in your own life and the life of those around you. Back away from the tv and start moving. Even if you start with a 5 minute walk. Every change starts somewhere.

Week before Muddy Mayhem 3 in San Antonio, Texas
Another beautiful day here in Nashville, TN. Day 3 of residency for my doctorate and preparing to race in the Muddy Mayhem 3 in San Antonio, TX. It is almost one year since I had gastric bypass surgery and I feel great. I was suffering from type 2 diabetes and my insurance finally covered the surgery. This procedure saved my life and if anyone ever asked me if they should do it if medically necessary I would say HELL YES.... My transition has been amazing, but it does take work and dedication.
Motivate yourself and others toward self improvement. It is often self reflection that brings you closer to where you want to be. Life is all about lessons and we have to learn to put away the negative energy that surrounds us to allow better things to fill that space. Never allow anyone to judge you or complain about your personality. If you truly do not like something then you just don't have to deal with it. DREAM BIG OR GO HOME. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and you visualize where you want to be. Surround yourself with positive people who are willing to move to the next level in self improvement. There is no perfect person in this world and we each have things other people do not like. We are only human and each of us is different in the way we think, act, and even deal with our emotions. Change is possible you just need to understand where it is you want to go and set your goals while taking that first step.
Every person you come across has some type of opinion regarding everything from gay marriage to why people continue to cause harm to others. Is it some stereotype that keeps filling people's heads about our way of life in America that they want to harm innocent people. It makes you realize that we are not as safe as we think in our own backyard, but as Americans we refuse to hide in our homes for fear of what is to come. We are a country built on ideas of freedom, but we continue to deny basic rights to people because we do not truly understand their lifestyle. How hard is it for people to just be nice to each other and leave hate behind. It takes so much energy to be angry and the stress it creates can overwhelm a person. Consider what took place in Texas regarding the plant explosion and all the people hurt or killed. Then the event in Boston where people just wanted to enjoy a very popular event, but someone full of hate had to come along and hurt innocent people. I often wonder what goes through the minds of people filled with so much hate. Maybe that is just the problem and they act without truly thinking of the outcome. Hate can consume a person so much that they truly do not realize what they have done until it is to late. As a global society we need to understand and respect the differences each culture has. When people are mislead or misinformed that is when hatred builds.
Here is one of my best friends and today would have been her 39th birthday. She is missed by so many and brought so much joy to the lives she touched. November 2, 2012 she lost her battle to colon cancer due to liver failure. We wish you a happy birthday my dear friend and your memory will live on forever. Because of you Team JAG and Let's Bully Cancer was created to help build awareness toward better health and to get a little dirty as we have become mud run racers.

Now its time to continue preparing for this coming weekends 8K Muddy Mayhem 3 race once I return home to San Antonio, TX. You never realize how much you miss home until you have to be away for a long period of time. Time to continue training as Team JAG moves toward conquering another mud run. Each day you should train some part of your body. Whether you go for a walk, jog, the gym, or just train your mind the road to self improvement is never ending. Regardless of what other people tell you in the end your the person who has to live with yourself. Be proud of who you are and all the wonderful things you have accomplished. We may not be able to remain positive all the time, but it is that positive energy that will empower us to improve. Make a difference allow your voice to be heard. Continue to work toward a healthier, happier, and empowered life. Extend that helping hand to others as the rewards are endless.
